Richie Sparks is a well known name in the Niger Delta Making waves as an innovative young businessman and constantly appearing in the fashion scene.
With Rumours here and there that he's planning on making  moves in the Music Industry we had lunch with Richie and he had a lot to say.

Q: Hello Richie, so tell me how has 2014 been so far ?
A: 2014 has been amazing, a lot of things are falling into place nicely as expected and planned for. I will be exploring a totally new side of me this year both personally and on the business platform.

Q: As A young businessman who by some measure is successful, what can you attribute this to ?
A: Well the most important thing about business is being able to manage your time. Nothing is random is life,  there is a time for rest, a time for work, etc. Another important factor is spirituality, a belief in a supreme being. This put a balance on your character.

Q: Do you ever have time to relax?
A: ofcourse I take relaxation very seriously, be it just a quiet meditation or a dip in the pool, or plain simple shut eye its very essential to ones health and state of mind. I did mention time management earlier and there must be time to relax.

Q: There has been lots of rumours that you're eying the music industry, how true is that?
A: haha, Very true indeed, I've always had an eye for good music and flair for rapping being musically gifted from a tender age. Music has always been a hubby for me, free-styling at every opportunity. I started recording officially at about age 14 but I never commercialized my records. However I think the time is right to put my talent out in the open. I'm getting out of the shower.

Q: You're always with a lot of Nigerian elite musicians, did anyone of them influence your decision?
A: well, not really, a couple of my industry friends that idea unto me a few times, Tinie in particular actually cajoled me to put a record on hulkshare, asides that I was solely  a personal decision. I had my mind made up a long time ago but I took time to study the industry.

Q: What's going to be your stage name ?
A: Richie Sparks, that's my brand.

Q: Musically, who is Richie Sparks?
A: Richie Sparks is a gifted singer and rapper. A lot of my music is going to be centered around afro-beat and hip-hop and will be majorly inspired by my life and the people around me. Richie Sparks is going to be an inspiration to his listeners be it motivation, incitement, excitement etc. Richie Sparks will showcase a lot of energy and pride.

Q: Are you currently working on any projects?
A: offcourse! I have numerous projects in the works (musically). A lot of recording have been done including collabo's with so many well known artistes. We have more than enough work in the pipeline as it is. We working, they watching.

Q: You always seem to pop up on the fashion scene, is there any secret to it?
A: Style is a religion and you have to stay committed and steadfast. Looking good is good business and I love 'good business'. Basically simplicity wins it for me, we have a tendency to do too much so for me the less the better.

Q: Do you have a favorite brand?
A: Not really, I patronize a couple designer brands, Phillipe Plien for most of my casuals, T.religion, gucci, Trxbe for most of my african wears.

Q: Thank You For your time Richie, a few words for your fans maybe?
A: Its Richie Sparks. Cheers. love love y'all.

Photo: Pastor Charges Money From Members To Check If Their Names Are In The Book Of Life

A pastor who heads Helicopter of Christ Ministries in Kenya has been accused of charging people money to check if their names are in the book of life, a Kenyan website reports. Pastor Wahome charges Sh 1,500 (2,848.46 NGN) from anyone who wants to know about this mystery. This is not the first time the pastor will be accused of fooling his church members and the public, as he also did something similar in 2012. In 2012, the pastor wore a particular garment and said whoever touched it will be healed of any sickness just like the woman with the issue of blood, in Mark 5:21-34 who got healed after touching the garment of Jesus. He also charged Sh 1,200( 2,278.77 NGN) for this. Shockingly a lot of people flooded his church to receive their supposed healing and are still running there to see if their names are in the book of life.

“I am a regular visitor to SSS”: Asari Dokubo opens up on his arrest

“I am a regular visitor to SSS”: Asari Dokubo opens up on his arrest

Asari-Dokubo
The controversial leader of the Niger Delta People’s Volunteer Force, Muhajid Dokubo-Asari was yesterday summoned to the headquarters of the Department of Security Services (DSS).

The former militant was arrested for making inciting comments about the upcoming 2015 presidential elections.
[READ:Why Asari Dokubo was arrested by secret service operatives]
Dokubo was detained and interrogated for six hours for saying that there would be violence in Nigeria if President Goodluck Jonathan is not reelected.
Leadership reports:
Asari, who arrived at the headquarters of the SSS in Abuja at 10am yesterday morning, dressed in a blue and white striped short-sleeved native outfit, to honour the invitation, was released at 4pm.
Asari, who arrived the headquarters in the company of a lawyer from Festus Keyamo’s chambers, a former chairman of Asari Toru Council of Rivers State, Chief Aroloyeteim Brown, some chiefs from the Niger Delta and some members of NDPVF, was, however, allowed into the DSS compound with only his lawyer and Chief Aroloyeteim Brown.
Speaking with journalists shortly before entering the DSS compound Asari said, “I’m here to honour SSS’ invitation, I don’t know if it is arrest. I’m not afraid of arrest and have never been. Arrest is part of the dividends of the struggle. I have been arrested 73 times; today’s arrest will be making it the 74th time.
“I’m going into SSS headquarters with my prayer mat, my Qu’ran, tisbih, toilet bag, which contains my toothpaste and toothbrush. I’m also here with my drugs. I am fully prepared, if the SSS decides to arrest me, I’m ready to stay,” Asari said.
At the entrance of the SSS headquarters, fierce looking armed operatives were seen at strategic places within and outside the premises of the security agency, before Asari’s arrival.
However, the operatives dispersed as soon as Asari arrived. He exchanged pleasantries with the plain-clothes officers who were on hand to welcome him.
Recounting the experience after his release, Asari said the visit was routine and that he gave the SSS his opinion. “It was a routine question and answer on my interviews. I gave them my opinion and reasons. I told them that it is wrong for some people to be treated as if they are above the law, as if they have the right to threaten others, make inciting comments and continue to intimidate people and get away with it,” Asari said.
Asked whether he was compelled to sign an undertaking of any sort, Asari said, “I was not given any paper to sign. I only wrote my statement. They (DSS) said they don’t want the polity to be heated up, and that it is an appeal to all other people.”
On how he was treated during the interrogation, he said, “They treated me well. I am a regular visitor to SSS, it was the usual treatment.”
Asari said that his arrest would serve as an opportunity to arrest those that have made inciting comments and threats against others.
“My arrest has given us the opportunity to tell them that they should stop making inciting comments and stop threatening others, because if they do that now, they must be arrested. We will demand for their arrest. We are not afraid of arrest. We are used to suffering, they are not. They have been enjoying government money and patronage, we have not. We are used to being in the creeks, swamp and forest, they’re not. We are used to mosquito bites, they’re not.”
Asked if he was demanded to report periodically to DSS, he said, “They told me that anytime they want me, they will call.”

Mass on girl’s back contained a breast, an arm with two fingers from undeveloped twin (Warning: Graphic Image))

A 11 years old girl had a life-changing surgery to remove a growth doctors have identified as part of an identical twin that had failed to develop and was enveloped by its sister.
The mass on her back using an X-ray revealed abnormal curvatures of the spine which contained a breast, an arm with two fingers and Professor Baogan Peng was quoted in the journalBMJ Case Reports, as saying: ‘Based on physical examination and imaging findings, a diagnosis of fetus in fetu was made preoperatively.’
Fetus in fetu in an incredibly rare condition that affects only one in five million live births. It is a condition where the malformed foetus is found in the body of its twin. The foetus is found in the abdomen in 80 per cent of cases, although there have been reports of it occurring in the skull. However, this is the first time that is has been reported in the back.
The girl also suffered from diastematomyelia, which is a congenital disorder in which the spinal cord is split.
Prof Peng, who is an expert in spinal surgery at the General Hospital of Armed Police Force in Beijing, said doctors successfully removed the parasitic twin, despite there being no clear way of separating them.
He added that a later analysis also found digestive tract lining in the tissue.

Rivers crisis: IG to appear before Senate Tuesday

Rivers crisis: IG to appear before Senate Tuesday

Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar
The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, will appear before the Senate on Tuesday.
He is to explain the role of the police in the crisis rocking Rivers State.
The Senate spokesman, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, said this while addressing journalists after the upper chamber’s plenary on Wednesday.
He said, “The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, will appear before the Senate next week Tuesday to explain the role of the police in the Rivers State crisis.”
The Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, had accused the state police command of partiality in the handling of political crisis in the state.
Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress said it had uncovered a plot by members of the Peoples Democratic Party and the Grassroots Development Initiative to disrupt its ongoing membersip registration in Rivers State.
The state APC accused the PDP of planning to unleash terror on registration officers and its (APC) members in units, wards and local government areas where the exercise, which began on Tuesday, was being held.
It pointed out that local government leaders of the PDP and GDI had been instructed to ensure that the registration centres of the APC were attacked.
A statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary of the APC, Chief Andy Nweye, in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, indicated that the planned attack was to get the backing of the police in the state.
“The APC has uncovered a sinister plan by the leadership and members of the PDP and the GDI to violently disrupt our registration exercise by unleashing terror on innocent registration officers and members of the APC in the units, wards and LGAs in Rivers State.
“Rising from a meeting in the house of a PDP/GDI chieftain and former chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, the leaders of the PDP/GDI were instructed to ensure that all units of the registration centres are physically attacked with the assurance that the police in Rivers State is fully behind them,” the statement reads.
It, however, called on security agencies in the state to take appropriate steps to prevent the APC from embracing self-help, adding that nobody has monopoly of violence.
“We call on our registration officers and the supervisors to carry on with the exercise without any fear whatsoever while we call on the police to provide you with adequate security as you conduct the exercise,” the APC added.
But the State PDP, through the Special Adviser on Media to its Chairman, Mr. Jerry Needam, described the APC’s allegation as false and baseless.
Meanwhile, the PDP has accused the APC of using polling units in the state as registration centres for its (APC) members.
Stakeholders in the state chapter of the PDP said after a meeting in Port Harcourt on Tuesday that the action of the APC was a ploy to rig the forthcoming council election in the state.
A communiqué signed by the one of the leaders of the party, Chief John Bazia, and other stakeholders, stated that INEC had yet to commence voter registration.
The PDP called on the security agencies and INEC to prevail on the APC to carry out the registration of its members according to the electoral laws in order to prevent the breakdown of law and order in the state.
“The PDP as a law abiding party is calling on all security agencies and INEC to prevail on the APC to carry out its membership registration in line with the electoral laws to forestall a possible breakdown of law and order in the state” the communiqué read.
Reacting, the Senior Special Assistant to the Interim State Chairman of the APC, Chief Chukwuemeka Eze, told The PUNCH that the complaint by the PDP was an announcement of defeat in advance.
Eze explained that the PDP was afraid of the huge turnout of the people for APC membership registration.
He described the criticism as a sign that the PDP was dead in Rivers State.
